Featured Artist: UNI

It’s a special Sunday Edition of Featured Artist! This week we bring you the work of Uni. Take it away, Uni!

Hi! I’m Uni, from Japan. I mainly draw Mads and Hugh, as well as the characters from the shows that they appear in.
When I first came to Hannibal fandom, I was really surprised at how creative and kind fannibals are. It motivated me to post art and communicate with people online. It’s very encouraging that they often leave friendly comments on my artwork, which rarely happens in Japanese fandom. I probably can’t draw as well as other fannibals, but I hope everyone enjoys my drawings!
And lastly, I’d like to say thank you to Dave for giving me this fantastic opportunity to introduce myself.
The pleasure is all mine, Uni. Uni’s work caught my eye on Twitter, and I immediately reached out to feature their artwork on the site. Speaking of… here are some choice selections!

As you can see, Uni is not only talented, but incredibly humble. I for one can’t wait to see more, and I hope you are just as excited as I am. For more of their work, visit Uni’s Twitter and Tumblr.

See you THIS Wednesday for the Season Two finale of Mind Palace!

Featured Artist: Nephila

We’re back with another Featured Artist Spotlight! Hell yeah! This week, gaze upon the work of Nephila.

I’m Nephila and I’m a behavioral ecologist that spends my free time drawing Hannibal. Bryan Fuller has attracted a wealth of artists with the imagery of the series- one chance look at a few screencaps on Pinterest and I was hooked.

I strive to make my pieces as emotive as possible; if the subject’s emotion and tone transcends the “canvas” into the space of the viewer, then I’ve done my job. My fan art is a continuous log of myself trying to convey my feelings about the series, communicating to everyone through light and color.

My main “style” is a form of digital realism, but it extends to bright, neon colors, pointillism, stylized pencil, and traditional. I’m always experimenting, and my techniques are always evolving.

Here are just a few of Nephila’s inspiring pieces:

Featured Artist: Nina Lim

We’re barreling down on a CRAZY ending to Season Two of Mind Palace. Be sure to come back next week for a HUGE reveal. But that’s the future. Today we celebrate artist Nina Lim! Take it away, Nina!

Hi, my name is Nina. I’ve been a fan of the show since it first aired back in 2013. I’ve always been enthralled with surrealism, gore, and horror, which the TV showed had supplied immensely, and I try to reflect that in my artwork. The interesting thing about Hannibal (for me) is the relationship between Hannibal and Will; how everyone else had become ensnared in their dangerous game of wits and murder. The dynamic art direction of the entire show is what kept me inspired as an artist. I hope to do justice with my interpretations of the Hannibal universe.

Well, I for one think you absolutely do, Nina! Check out this sampling of Nina’s work:

Featured Artist: Deadly

Howdy, fellow Fannibals! This week, we’re proud to share the art of… Deadly! Take it away, D!

Hi! I’m Deadly, and I guess I specialize in weird Catholic undertones in varying warm colour palettes!

As you can probably tell, I’m very inspired by dogmatic iconography and pre-Raphaelite painting. I put a lot of effort into resisting the urge to solely produce reinterpretations of classic paintings as Hannibal tableaus.

Hannibal, and Bryan Fuller’s work generally, has really influenced my art in terms of style, symbolism and beautifying the grotesque. I also really feel like the other creators within the Hannibal fan base encourage and motivate me to become a better artist, and I’m having the best time challenging myself when I’m inspired by my peers. Today, naked angels, tomorrow, maybe even backgrounds. Who knows?

Thanks for checking me out, and thanks, Dave, for the feature and all your hard work on Mind Palace!
